VENUS JONES is an actress, associate professor, and poet who helps aspiring writers and professional speakers increase their impact and profit. She earned her MFA in English and Creative Writing from Mills College in 2014 and she was one of the honored commencement speakers that same year. She’s a former MTV intern and Austin International poetry slam finalist. As a writer and poet, she’s published three books, one which was endorsed by the Langston Hughes Family Museum. She has authored four spoken word albums, and a mobile app for Kwanzaa, that’s been downloaded in 80 countries. Ask her about her healing words initiative. Her favorite quote is by Alice Walker, “The most common way people give up their power, is by believing they don’t have any.”
